Voted NC's Favorite Pier by Great Folks like you!
Welcome to NC's Favorite Fishing Pier's website! Many North Carolina angling families refer to us as their "Fishing Home Away from Home" and that’s also true of those spending time here in cyber space! The Ocean Crest Pier website was designed with you in mind. It’s updated regularly so that our reports and photo's represent the "Newest", exciting day-to-day happenings. We're striving to invest in the latest technologies. like hosting the islands only live pier webcam, making sure our web pages reflect the needs of the customers from near and afar.
Your Success is our Success! Whether that be a parent or grand parent introducing a child to their first catch or an experienced angler seeking a trophy sized bag, both are recognized memories of a lifetime and important to all of us here at Ocean Crest.
We're honored having you visit our website and we hope you enjoy the photographic evidence of our anglers many successes. The pier officially holds the islands record for a Governor's Citation Award sized "Silver King" aka Tarpon. Lady OCP angler Wendy Keiper landed the 118 lb Tarpon, June 20th 2010. Ocean Crest Pier King Fisher Bo Crump firmly holds the islands official pier catch record for the largest King Mackerel ever caught, at 53 lbs 6 oz's (May 7th 1998-current). Included among the past seasons angling successes here, were countless numbers of beautiful Cobia, King Mackerel, Speckled Trout, Red Drum and Flounder as well a variety of favored bottom fishes. During the 2009 season, we witnessed 17 year old Jr. Angler Thomas Cutler add his name to the OCP record boards with a 27 lb 7 oz Tripletail. The amazing catch earned Thomas a rare "North Carolina State Record". Wow!
We're proud, in these trying economic times that with our patrons support, Ocean Crest Pier remains Rock Solid in the North Carolina angling Community". It’s personally satisfying to all of us here serving your families that have choosen us as their final angling destination. We've continually received compliments for being consistant.

The 2010 "Queens of King's" Conclusion 7/25/10 |
The third annual "Queens of Kings" ended in fine fashion Sunday July 25th with a few late minute changes. 38 lady anglers were vying for the top spots as they begin their week-end efforts here at Ocean Crest. With questional weather forecasts, west winds and air and humidity both pushing the century mark, the ladies not only showcased their desires and skills, but patience and a tougher than nails determination as well!
Their being troopers would be and understatement.......................in the end, champions overcome unseemingly impossible odds while making their own destinies materilize as participants. Its wasn't unusual considering the environmental issues, that no King Mackerel were caught during the tourney. Secondary qualifying species were landed though, and thus the top three qualifying lady anglers catches eliminated the possibilities that names would be drawn in order the prizes be awarded.
The results.......
Lady angler Missy Passmore of Mahffay. PA snatched the winners purse from lady angler Wanda Johnson sights during the hours preceding the end of the three day event by decking a qualifying 3 lb 11 oz Spanish Mackerel. That move garnered Missy the top cash prize of ($760.00) as well the Sunday daily Calcutta worth an additional ($135.00) in cash.
Missy was also awarded the 2010 "Oueens of Kings" Crown and title and other prize considerings, such as a custom fighting and anchor rod combo. That gift was provided by L&M Custom Rods of Wilmington. Total top position winners cash and prizes were valued @ ($1500.00). Not bad for three days of fun in the sun working on a great tan. Congrats Missy!
Lady angler Johnson of Statesville, NC secured her name in the record books and ($456.00) in hand by decking a nice 2 lb 5 oz Spanish Mackerel to take the number two position. Wanda was the returning 2009 "Queens of Kings" Champion! Congrats Ms. Wanda..................
and finishing in the respectable third place position was returning lady angler Carrie Seay of Belmont, NC with her day one bag of a nice 1 lb 10 oz Spanish Mackerel. Carrie's catch earned her ($304.00) in winnings. Carrie's a past top three qualfying contestant as well..........Congrats again Carrie!
Folks we all had a great time having the gals here once again and we're looking forwards to having them back here for next years 2011 "Queen's of King's". We would like to say thak you to all the men who stepped up as coaches during the event..........
We're also thankful to all the fine folks who offered their businesses support sponsoring the many wonderful secondary prizes.............Please support their businesses while visiting the greater Oak Island and neighboring communites as they have the tournaments here at Ocean Crest Pier.
Regards Dave, Melinda and the pier staff.............
