I am wondering if this is a good reel to use for kingfishing?? I am wanting to start learning to King fish, and am starting to read about the different gear I might need.

The (Penn) Jigmaster is a very capable choice. Many proffessional anglers use it as it is known for its toughness and easy cleaning/servicing. Its a great tournament situation reel. The reel itself sports brass gears and a quick change spool. You might keep several extra spools in your arsenal preloaded with 20 lb test mono. No tools are required changing them and just seconds of your time. The line capacity (300-400 yds) of the reel depending on line weight/type (Mono, Spectra) is plenty in all but the most extreme situations for King Fishing from a pier or boat. A summer time Tarpon might present an issue but then again a Penn International TW50 in the hands of a inept angler can be spooled out as well. I suppose the best advice in those heavier fish battles is playing the drag properly. The Jigmaster being a lighter weight (graphite) reel certainly will ease the strain on an anglers wrist and forearm during a lengthly back and forth fish battle. In fact a tug-a-war using a Jigmaster and its capabilities can add to the excitement of the battle and memories of a lifetime. ..............Don't worry awol_nc its a "Reel" Good Choice. Good Luck Catching! Dave
Thanks for the tip. My family and I have been enjoying OCP for over 30 years now. My parents brought my there as a child and I have been bringing my son there since he was born 11 years ago. I have never found anyone there that was unwilling to help a novice like myself. My compliments to you and your staff. I have seen many wonderful improvements in the last few years, and they are greatly appreciated. We will be in town (from way up in the mountains) the last week of July, and am hoping to watch and learn some more while I am there.
